SOLO BIRTHDAY GETAWAY IN THAILAND! ANOTHER ONE TICKED OFF MY BUCKET LIST! :)

The idea of traveling solo has always come and go on my mind but i am too scared to go forward with it. I guess i am too scared of getting bored all on my own. At first my plan is to travel and celebrate my birthday with my bestfriend but something came up so she was not able to come with me as she had a different travel plan with her boyfriend for Europe.
I don't want to calm my excitement down, so one crazy night i booked myself a flight going to Thailand alone. I chose to celebrate my birthday out of the country to reward myself, to make it memorable like i always want to and traveling alone is one of my bucket list items.

So YAY! I did it last November! My very first solo trip in a foreign country!

After my solo trip in Thailand, I can confidently say that everyone should travel alone at least once in their lifetimes. There’s just nothing like it. The experiences you will gained from traveling alone is worth way more than the money you are paying for it.

Solo trip is a experience like none other. When traveling alone, you have all the freedom to do what you want, your mistakes are your own, you met lot of different amazing people from all over the world and especially your triumphs are more exciting and memorable.

Here are some of the pictures of places i have visited during my Birthday Getaway in THAILAND <3

I have added some travel tips as well for those who are planning to do the same trip.

KHAO SAN ROAD

  Backpackers Ghetto

How to travel from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khao San Road?
The cheapest way to reach Khao San Road from Suvarnabhumi Airport is through BTS Sky Train and Taxi. If you are on a group (max. 4 person), i would suggest you to take a taxi but if you are alone the cheapest way is to take the BTS Skytrain from Suvarnabhumi Station and go to Phaya Thai Station as there is no direct train going to Khao San Road. From Phaya Thai Station take a taxi to Khao San Road.

Many tourist like to take the Tuk Tuk for the thrill and experience but taxi's are usually cheaper, unless you know how to negotiate.

Transportation Cost:
By Train: Suvarnabhumi BTS Station to Phaya Thai - 42Baht
By Taxi: Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khao San Road - 400 - 500Baht
Phaya Thai to Khao San Road  - 70 - 100 Baht

Nothing is impossible with my loves.
Thank you very much Annica, Tiff & Mitox
for sending these flowers to my hotel room in Thailand<3

This is my dinner on my first night in Thailand. The food are cheap but it defends
on where you want to eat. I spent a 180Baht for this meal but usually Pad Thai will cost you for only 25 - 50 Baht on the street.

Beers are cheap as well.

Chang, Singha, Leo or other local beers cost
40 - 60 Baht per bottle

This is where i celebrated my epic birthday!
A big thanks to THE CLUB for the free pass
you gave me on my birthday.

and especially to my new friend working in THE CLUB.
I forgot her name but i am hoping to see her again
when i get back to THAILAND.

    1. Hello There! Thank you very much for visiting my blog. I am so happy because you are the first one to post a comment on my blog. :)

It will cost you much cheaper to take the BTS Sky Train and take a taxi from Phaya Thai to Khao San Road. Please check if the driver turned on the meter as some of them are not using the meter, instead they will ask you to pay a certain amount which is higher than the usual fare when the meter is on.

I did not have the time to visit Ayuthaya i only visited the floating market during my stay in Thailand. About going to the Floating Market (Damnoen Saduak) I did not use the public transport as i’ve find it more convenient with less hassle when you go by a tour and there is not much difference on the cost when you go by public transport or tour.

2weeks before i go to Thailand, i’ve arranged my visit to floating market through a Travel and Tours in Khao San Road. I sent them a message on Facebook and ask about going to Floating Market and they promptly response to my message.

If ever you want to go on a tour, they will just tell you to inform them 3 days before your intended date visit to Floating Market. They will ask about your hotel and room number or where they can contact you. Once they got the details they will arrange your pick up time and the driver will come to pick you up. They will arrange everything even the boat rent (Floating Market) when you reach there and you will be with some tourist so you’ll meet some people. If i am not mistaken we are 12 in the van that time.

I remember when i bought the train tickets in Suvarnabhumi Airport, BTS Station Counter they gave me a free mobile sim card which ive used during my stay instead of using my roaming service which is so expensive. Just check if they are still giving it there so you can use it during your stay in Thailand.

I hope this helps you let me know if you still have some questions. Please do not hesitate to ask me i am very much willing to help you. I am on Whatsapp if you have that. Have a blast on your trip. i’m sure you’ll enjoy the place. Take care. :)

  3. Hello Chumei,

I went there last July and i arrived at 10:25pm. The train is open until 12midnight. So i would suggest once you get off the plane come straight to the immigration and i'm sure you can still catch the train. If im not mistaken the last train is until 11:55pm :)

I haven't been to DMK but i heard that there is a Skytrain as well in DMK Airport going to Phaya Thai Station or you can take a cab which will cost you 250Thai Baht which is cheaper compared if you come from Suvarnabhumi.

Have a blast in Thailand. I'm sure you'll love the place. :)

If you have more questions please feel free to ask. Will reply to you as soon as i can.

  6. Hello! I just found your blog and it couldn't have come at a better time! I am 22 and travelling to Thailand solo in May(I have never left the United States before) for a full month! I start in Bangkok and booked a room on Khaosan Road for the first few nights. I don't speak any Thai, so I have been getting really nervous about getting from point A to point B. Also, being a solo female traveler, do you have any recommendations/ tips??

My email is kmarinar@asu.edu if you or anyone has any tips! Thank you!! <3
